Our History
The TKA Early Childhood Center opened its doors in Scottsdale, Arizona, in 2001. We began with 66 children and have been growing while serving the Jewish, Christian, and many interfaith communities for the past 24 years. Our philosophy is to nurture each child’s intellectual, physical, emotional, and language development in a safe, supportive, and challenging environment that is sensitive to the needs and preferences of their families. The children learn to cultivate a positive self-image and a strong sense of identity through a multi-sensory approach and a developmentally appropriate curriculum that integrates both Judaic and secular materials.
Our Story
Temple Kol Ami (TKA) came to life in October of 1988. Founded by 52 families, the congregation began humbly in a rented space at a Lutheran church. TKA moved to its current location, a beautiful, park-like five acres in 1992 designed by the world famous Will Bruder. With an elegant sanctuary, 14 classrooms, charming social hall, athletic field, office space, and a beautiful memorial garden, TKA makes a stunning impression on those who walk the grounds. From the start, TKA has saw itself as a family community with a stated goal to never grow too big. TKA chooses to maintain a “family feel” where each member knows and enjoys each other, and where our Temple is an innovative place for learning, worship and social gathering.
